On 27 September 2010, agreement was signed with the Nurol-Özaltın-Makyol-Astaldi-Yüksel-Göçay Group, which was awarded the contract of the Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir (İzmit Gulf Passage Bridge and Access Roads included) at the General Directorate of Highways.
Mr. Binali Yıldırım, the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Habib Soluk, the Undersecretary for the Minister of Transportation, Mr. M. Cahit Turhan, the General Director of Highways, and the representatives from companies attended the signing ceremony.
Saying that the İzmit Gulf Passage Bridge would be the 2nd biggest suspension bridge of the world, Mr. Binali Yıldırım, the Minister of Transportation, stated that the project would cost 11 billion Turkish Liras, including expropriation costs.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the project is due in 2 months. As it is obvious, the contract was awarded to the Nurol-Özaltın-Makyol-Astaldi-Yüksel Göçay Group for a period of operation of 22 years and 4 months.
